Trip Report

I've been wanting to bike this section since last fall and always imaged doing it when the Aspens were peaking with their fall colors but there is no time like the present so saw the opportunity in my busy schedule and took it.

This trail was better than I expected and the trail quality, flow for biking, and scenery all impressed. The first section after the initial climb up from Kenosha pass all the way to where the climb up Georgia Pass starts was particularly flowy and enjoyable on the bike. The only section that was a little rough was as I entered the forest down from Georgia Pass there was over 20 downed trees that slowed things down and got a bit annoying after the first couple.

Overall this trail had a bit of everything and did feel like a proper adventure ride even with the good trail conditions due to the lack of people and relative remote feel of the ride.

Tips

1. Having a water filter was great as always for keeping my overall weight down. There is a stream you cross right before climbing up to Georgia Pass and also another stream when you finish the descent which makes for perfect water refill spots.

2.  An early start helps beat some of the section and through hikers to the trail. I found that I passed a majority of these hikers as they were just getting ready to hit the trail which helped with the flow and having the trail almost fully to myself.

3. Bring bug spray. I was eaten alive along the way every time I stopped and a little DEET in the morning or with me would have been appreciated.
